Soprano Helen Gabrielsen is a performer of art song, chamber works and new music. Recent performances include recitals of the music of Les Six and the role of Karin in Maren of Vardo by Jeff Meyers with Yale Institute of Music Theatre. She has premiered song cycles set to texts by E.E. Cummings by Daniel Tempkin and Steve Aprahamian, the pocket opera All Three Acts of a Sad Play Performed Entirely in Bed by Dag Gabrielsen and the role of The Serpent in Orfeo, Eurydice and The Serpent, a new satirical chamber opera based on the Orpheus myth that combines scores by multiple composers. Other notable performances include a solo recital of American Songs at the Renee Weiler Concert Hall, a chamber arrangement of Tosti songs at Weill Auditorium Carnegie Hall and Messiah with New York State Baroque Orchestra at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Buffalo. Upcoming engagements include 1,2,3 - a collaborative dance film with Five Words in a Line and Artichoke Dance Company - and Argento’s Letters from Composers for voice and guitar with EnCANTA Collective.
