NOW STREAMING, VIDEOS FROM
THE SHEPHERD KING

In the spring of 2019 we assembled an exciting group of artists for a production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's THE SHEPHERD KING (Il re pastore) in a brand new translation by Mark Herman & Ronnie Apter, after the libretto by Pietro Metastasio. Over the last few months the singers, orchestra, and creative team have have found new ways to collaborate. Despite being scattered across the country, we have been working on a series of videos based upon the opera.

In our first video release of the series, Tenor Rufus Müller appears as fictitious Alexander the Great envisioning a new world order based upon ideals of the Enlightenment in the aria "When storm-clouds shroud the heavens."

Next in our series, Kristin Gornstein, Mezzo-Soprano, as Tamiri, tries to stand her ground in "I am accused of cruelty" ("Se tu di me fai dono")

In our third release, Tenor Daniel T. Curran, as Agenore, is forced by Alexander the Great to give up his beloved Tamiri and dares not speak his mind in "Very few could ever describe it" ("Sol può dir come si trova")

In the 4th opera short, soprano Heather Hill as the male Shepherd Aminta cannot imagine a future without her beloved. - "I will love her, I will be grateful" (“L'amerò, sarò costante”)

In our fifth video, Alexander the Great shows gratitude for gifts he has received from the God in "Gods who grace me with crowns of laurel ("Voi che fausti ognor donate"). Featuring tenor Brian Downen as Alessandro.
